The director Hunger game adapted from the book by Suzanne Collins to make all the characters are viciously dispatched with various weapons including spears, arrows, and swords as well as by having their necks broken, their skulls cracked, and their bodies ravaged by carnivorous and poisonous creatures. The movie explores thought-provoking themes about reality television, totalitarian government, and screen violence as entertainment. And Katniss, the main character, is a strong heroine who's resourceful, selfless, and a true survivor. Her mentor, Haymitch, is initially depicted as a cynical drunk, but he ultimately proves to be a valuabally.

A newest movie in 2018. A 13-year-old Meg Murry as Storm Reid, her genius little brother, and her friend on an epic, perilous journey to find her long-missing father. They're guided on their dangerous voyage across time and space by three supernatural beings: Mrs. Whatsit as Reese Witherspoon, Mrs. Who as Mindy Kaling, and Mrs. Which as Oprah Winfrey. Like the book it's based on, the movie features some intense scenes of peril: Kids nearly plunge to their deaths, are whisked away in a twister, or are stuck for eternity, and there's a scary moment when three people are dragged to an evil overlord. But while the kids are bruised and knocked down, no one dies or is seriously injured, and the frightening moments are temporary.

A movie in 2014. It takes viewers to the underworld and back. Smaller children might find the scenes in the Land of the Remembered scary, especially those featuring the king of the underworld, Xibalba, who's named after the Mayan name for the realm of the dead. The characters in the Land of the Remembered are traditional Day of the Dead figures, which are skeletons in brightly colored clothing. One dead character's head is separate from his body. There are some bullfighting scenes and battle sequences that are a little violent, and things get somewhat darker when the action shifts to the underworld, there's a demonic bull surrounded by fire.

Kim Takgu is the eldest son of the chairman of Geosung Foods Enterprise, and Kim Misun, his mistress. The Chairman's wife, Insok, is furious with her husband and shuns Takgu. When his mother is kidnapped, Takgu runs away from home and spends the next 12 years looking for her. In his journey, he enters a baking school owned by Pal Bong who is a legend in the baking industry. Coincidentally, he was also Takgu's father's teacher. In said school, Takgu also finds Jo Jingu, the man who kidnapped his mother. Jo Jingu tells Takgu that she accidentally fell off a cliff. Takgu decides to stay at the bakery and learn the art of making bread, like his father did before him. Majun, Takgu’s half-brother, is also at the school, hoping to learn about baking to win his father of the approval and take over the family business.
